Another Matsuzaka article
Here is another article in Sports Illustrated about Matsuzaka and the significants of the Red Sox signing him. Pretty sweet that rumors are being confirmed that the Red Sox had the highest bid. All they need to do is sign Warren and their 5 man rotation will be set.

This just in, its official and the Red Sox secured the rights to negotiate for 51.1 million dollars. Now this might seem crazy that they would pay this much just to talk to the guy. However keep two things in mind. One is that if they don’t work out a deal with him in 30 days then we don’t have to pay the 51.1. Second, having a popular japanese player on your team means that you will make a ton of money in Japan liscencing the players name/jersey/etc. The Yankees and Mariners both make millions of dollars in Japan just by having Ichiro and Matsui, and the Red Sox will too. Hopefully the Red Sox can lock him up for 4 or 5 years and he will turn into the next Pedro Martinez.
